These tracks aren't abandoned, they're just very infrequently used, even though there's a train yard less than a mile away! People even fish sitting on a part of the tracks that goes over water.

These are active tracks, but trains come by very infrequently. It's also right near a train yard and in the middle of suburbia, so trains go by super slow and beep a lot.

I grew up in a fucked up thirdworld country where they showed me (as a kid) photos of what would happen if the train happened to run over you when you're lying on the track... So needless to say, I can still remember it =|
